… they are always full of bittersweet moments.
Moments when,
she’d cuddle up and give me a kiss without me asking for them
she’d choose not to respond when being called or asked a question
she’d understandingly occupy herself and quietly play in her room
She’d sing and sing like there’s no tomorrow
She’d request for something, then nod with understanding when I tell her that it’s not possible to do that now
She’d giggle and laugh by herself (Only she know what she is laughing at)
Yes, our little girl adds colours to my days.
In reality though, there’s always a balance on good days and cranky days.
But then again, as parents I feel we should always try to treasure those good moments and remind ourselves to react accordingly and growl proportionately during their grumpy days.

As our little ones grow, so is their curiosity. And the great thing about such increasing curiosity is that they get to discover new things about their world. The ‘not-so-good’ aspect about it, well, while they test things out to see the ‘effects’ of their actions, they may venture into things that they’re not supposed to do. Like, throwing toys around or drawing on the wall! At first they may not ‘know’ that they’re not supposed to do them. But them being toddlers, generally even after we parents tell and explain - repeatedly - why some actions shouldn’t be done, they may choose to … not obey too. Personally, I believe in letting kids know - since young - that there are consequences to everything. That we all need to learn and be responsible for our actions. When Melody was drawing with pencil, she went to check out how her pencil would look on our wall! She was vigorously drawing the wall when I realised what she was doing. I then gave her a firm ‘No no no!’, took her pencil, looked her in the eye and firmly told her how she’s to draw on her paper, not on the wall. She got back to her paper. But within ten seconds, she went to draw on the wall, again! After telling her again and again (the cycle happened for about 4 -5 times!), I decided to pack her pencil. I then show her a damp cloth and explained to her how we're to wipe the wall clean because she was the one who drew on them (she only managed to wipe abit, then i took over the job). I explained what I was doing while she watched me wipe off her drawing on the wall. In such cases, yes it’d be much faster and easier if we just wipe it clean ourselves from the beginning. But if we tend to always do that, our little ones will miss out on an important life lesson - to be responsible and accountable for their own actions. Worse, they’d gradually learn not to be too concerned about their own actions, because someone else will bear the consequences anyway! Ah. Teaching our little ones need so much patience.

Someone asked about how my typical day goes. And come to think of it, it’s kind of hard to say, because it is the same everyday.
Overall, Melody’s day is somehow more predictable though. Simply put, it goes like this: wake up, breakfast, shower, playtime, lunch, playtime, nap, afternoon snack, playtime, shower, dinner, playtime and bedtime.
So far, things have not always been easy. Juggling between work, being a fulltime working Mom and wife, And I think, it helps a lot whenever I think that : things may not be easy, but they’re most likely not impossible to accomplish. Yes we may have to adjust our lifestyle, sleep less on certain days or work till very late. But it’s part of life’s challenges, isn’t it? I guess I don’t really think about it much too. If I have to do something, then I’ll just do it.
Well anyway, most important of all is that I personally believe that we have enough strength to go through the many different situations we come across everyday. And for each situation, however tough it may be, there’s always a lesson to be learned. A lesson that will better equip us when faced with even tougher challenges ahead.
